A message from the York Environment Weeks team:

As we start looking ahead to York Environment Weeks 2025, we’re inviting more volunteers to join our organising team.

The story so far…

Started in 2020 by York Environment Forum, YEWs helps to raise awareness of how people in York are working hard to tackle climate change, increase biodiversity and make the city more sustainable. Held annually over the last 5 years, in 2024 YEWs ran over 4 weeks from 14 Sept to 12 Oct with:

• over 100 events    
• 62 event organisers
• over 14,000 website views
• 12,500 views and 1,769 followers on social media
• over 3,000 attendees/participants at events

Help YEWs thrive and grow

Each year YEWs is created by a core team of volunteers. New volunteers are always welcome.

Contribution opportunities include:

• contact, communication and outreach with event organisers
• creating printed materials – design and distribution
• publicity, press releases and mainstream media liaison.
• website content and updates, social media 
• background admin – meetings, minutes, housekeeping, dealing with queries, gathering data for evaluation
• project management tasks
