Upcoming: Street-re-Cycle, Climate Cafe and (this Wednesday) a Friends of Nun Ings “Terry’s car park” meeting

This event will be held in the wonderful Tree House venue (BS/104 Meeting Room) in the Berrick Saul building on York University Campus West. The Tree House is accessible via stairs and lift.

There is also a How We Made It Through workshop https://www.eventbrite.com/e/how-we-made-it-through-tickets-1305745954299. 7pm, Wednesday 14 May, at the Tree House – details above.

More details: How We Made It Through is Planet South Bank’s community creative writing project. We invited people in the South Bank area to picture their neighbourhood in the future, having successfully made it to the other side of the 21st century polycrisis. Relevant to anyone interested in hope and fiction as tools of social change, the workshop will include an invitation to try your own hand at some ‘Thrutopian’ fiction-writing.

The Climate Cafe and the How We Made It Through workshop are both part of the Seeds of Hope and Action week at the University of York, running 12 to 16 May. See the amazing list of activities and exhibitions here: https://www.york.ac.uk/anthropocene-biodiversity/events/2025/seeds-of-hope/

Sign up your household to help yourself to a clutter clear-out and to meet local neighbours! Our tenth-year Street-re-Cycle, Sunday 18 May, midday to 3pm – full details and sign-up information here https://planetsouthbank.org.uk/street-re-cycle/

Wondering what’s going to happen at the old Terry’s factory car park, given the recent contentious granting of planning permission by a UK government Planning Inspector? The Friends of Nun Ings are holding a meeting this Wednesday 23 April. 7pm, St Chads Church Hall on Albermarle Road. The agenda also includes information on the rights of way which exist across the Nun Ings site. https://friendsofnunings.org/
