How we made it through: join Planet South Bank’s new project

“HOW WE MADE IT THROUGH”

A community creative writing project to start picturing the future we want to build; creating stories of hope for our common future.

You don’t need to be the next Shakespeare, just someone who cares about your neighbourhood and the people in it. We’re running a six-month project from February to July 2024, to give people a chance to create their vision of an alternative future for South Bank— in a future where we come together to fix everything; in the future where we all make it through.

You could join us for every monthly session, or just drop in when you’re able. You could participate entirely online, or write your own piece from afar and keep it just for yourself. Whatever works for you! But we can guarantee you’ll meet some like-minded and supportive folks along the way.

At this stage we’re looking for:

  • People who would like to try their hand at writing a story of hope – no previous writing experience needed. Your story could be written, or shared as an audio or video contribution.
  • Illustrators – we’re hoping for some wonderful creative writing pieces to emerge, and they will deserve wonderful illustrations!
  • More experienced writers – if you would be interested to share hints and tips or to be a supportive presence for those who are new to writing or could do with a confidence-boost along the way.
  • Any kind offers or suggestions of venues where we can host monthly meet-ups for all involved.

If you would like to be part of the project, or could help with any of these things, please e-mail us at through.psb@gmail.com to let us know and to join the mailing list for updates,

or follow us on instagram to stay in touch (@planetsouthbank)

Because hope is a muscle and we could all use a workout!

Because how are we supposed to get cracking on a brighter world, if we can’t even picture it?

    Hi

Your email link has bounced back my email so I’m pasting it in here. I hope that’s ok.

As someone who dabbles in both creative writing and illustrating – so far only for children – this project really appeals to me, so please count me in as a potential contributor. I am focusing only on your first two points as I don’t feel suited to a support role, unfortunately.

    Thank you.

    Helen

Many thanks indeed, Helen, wonderful to hear your interest and we’ll be back in touch. Thank you too for the note about the e-mail address not working – I had typed it incorrectly, and have now edited the blog piece and hopefully it is working OK. With best wishes, John / Planet South Bank
