Swamp way: The exhibition will start with a walk through a version of a swamp. Various materials are used to give a sense of the damp, squishy landscape.
Ritual bundles. In prehistoric times, ritual deposits were often left in wetland locations, or in special watery locations such as track crossings or bridges. These deposits were probably a way to communicate with the spirits of the place, or to the ancestors. Rituals still have meaning in today’s society and can allow us to connect our lives to nature.
In two workshops, we selected artefacts that were meaningful to us, because they connected to our lives and our families. We bundled the items up, and photographed them in locations which will eventually become wetlands when sea levels rise. A slideshow of the photos forms part of the exhibition.
