Did you know that climate scientists tell stories to themselves?

Their stories have really cool names. How about “SSP1-2.6”, or “SSP2-4.5”?!

But as you might expect, these stories – which are essentially projections about the future – have a really important purpose.

Each story sets out a different human carbon-pathway in the future, and what that means for the climate – and therefore, what those different stories would means for local communities such as South Bank in York.

Come along and hear climate scientist Dr James King share cutting-edge research on the detail of these climate science stories and their implications for our future.

Dr King is a Climate Scientist and Physical Geographer at the Leverhulme Centre for Climate Change Mitigation at the University of Sheffield.
