Local foraging walks this spring and summer

Together with local forager Carl Wain and York Cares, Planet South Bank is delighted to announce a series of foraging walks this spring and summer.

As the seasons change so do the plants and those that are available to eat. Having the opportunity to walk through the seasons is a great way to get closer to nature.

The walks will take place on the last Sunday of each month at 2pm: Sunday 31 March, Sunday 28th April, Sunday 26th May (organised together with  https://www.yorkcares.co.uk/), Sunday 30th June, Sunday 28th July, Sunday 25th August and Sunday 29th September.

Click here to sign up for the first of these walks.

Each walk will last about an hour to an hour and a half. No age restriction; children welcome. Please bear in mind that we will be walking off-path.

We will limit places to 25 people each time, so that participants have the opportunity to hear and join in with the discussions. You could choose to come to just one during the year, or to several to see the changes in local foraging opportunities through the seasons and to meet familiar faces.

To receive details of the foraging walks from April onwards, please sign-up for updates at  https://planetsouthbank.org.uk/subscribe-for-updates/

We’re very grateful to Carl, and York Cares https://www.yorkcares.co.uk/, for enabling these walks to take place.

Hi, that’s right – 31 March is Easter Sunday; some folk will be away, but that’s why we’re planning a series of walks over the season, so that people can pick and choose which ones they come along to. Hopefully egg plants will be in plentiful supply!
