Our ever-popular Street Recycle event is back. Over the years we know that it delights everyone involved! – those giving stuff away, and those looking to find a special or useful something.
Here’s how it works:
Sign up to be one of the households giving things away, and enjoy having a good clear-out between now and 16 May. Contact Pie Waller on 07761 642160 to sign up and to request a poster and balloons.
The day before the event, we’ll publish here on the planetsouthbank website and on our facebook page a list of South Bank households taking part.
On the day, put out your stuff at the front of your house, to give away. And don’t forget to find time to wander round to see what neighbours on the streets nearby are offering!
Items can include books, toys, DVDs, clothes, shoes, leftover tins of paint, spare bits of wood, furniture items… (Please take care not to block pavements or access ways, and tidy up anything not taken by the end of the event).
There will be lots of local households taking part. Tell your neighbours and friends, put up posters, invite neighbours to join in and clear their stuff too!
In these Covid-19 times, we’re expecting that everyone will socially-distance; use hand-sanitiser as you walk between households; and please only to touch any items you wish to take.
And most of all: take this chance to meet your neighbours, clear out your cupboards and sheds, get some great stuff for yourself, and have some good green fun.

Here’s a great opportunity to support local artists, crafters, printers and makers and to have the opportunity of buying original, individual gifts for the home, Christmas presents and festive decorations!
In taking part, please of course follow the strict requirements of Tier 2 Covid regulations, and in particular: socially distance at all times; wear a facemask, and use handsanitiser between venues; please only touch items that you are intending to buy; and bring cash for purchases, and your own bags.
The list of participating addresses is below.
Enjoy!

We invite local artists, printers, crafters and makers to take part in Crafty Crawl – a local trail round the streets of the South Bank area in York.
Sunday 15 November, 12 midday to 4pm.

With Covid-19, keeping the event safe for everyone this year (now in its 6th year) is a priority. We’ll be in touch with sellers taking part nearer the time, but already it’s clear you can’t invite people into your homes. You’ll need to have a suitable outdoor space to offer your wares; and of course Planet South Bank will need to make a judgment nearer the time depending on local lockdown restrictions.
That said, we hope you’ll be keen to take part!
For more information please contact Pie Waller at ainsliewaller@yahoo.co.uk or contact her on 07761 642160 to register your interest and let us know what you’ll be exhibiting.
Deadline for registering: 6pm, Saturday 7 November.
Assuming the event goes ahead, we’ll ask each maker afterwards for £5 to cover our printing and admin costs.
We’ll post a list of participating makers on this site and on our Facebook page. Keep checking back or sign up to our blog to receive updates automatically.
Keep safe! – Please socially-distance; use hand-sanitiser as you walk between households; and please only to touch any items you wish to take. Thank you 🙂
